< 72 hours after Chapter 5>
“Alright Chreep-pop, you’re free to go” said Ida, as she released the shielding to the brig’s cell. “Be sure to check in with the station master before you leave, or we’ll issue a warrant for your arrest, and your next visit to Rogue’s Island may not be so pleasant.”
“Th-thanks, I’ll remember that” stammered the Crotiman, who scooped up his personals and bolted out the door. Ida waited until she knew he was long gone, before turning to the view screen and paging Commander Darian.
“So, do you believe his story, Ida?” asked Darian. “Most of it”, said Ida. “I can pick up on pheromones and other signs to determine if a being is lying, and Chreep-pop’s only telling half the truth. I don’t think he personally had anything to do with the Moinen-gara’s death (Ida shuddered at the thought of the alien’s melted body in the sushi bar), but he probably knows who was responsible. The Moinen-gara had a huge distribution business, with lots of enemies, so all Chreep-pop had to do was wait until someone else did the hit, then sweep in and take over. How convenient.”
“Looks like several distributors banding together, and covering each other’s crimes. We’ll have to keep a close eye on Chreep-pop the next time he arrives at the station.”
“I know one thing, said Ida. It’s going to be awhile before I have a craving for sushi anytime soon.”
HAHA! Excellent post-script to my "It Must Be Friday" good job!
